Donating to Foodbank and supporting food relief

As a proud Australian business, it’s our responsibility to give back to other Australians and support the communities we live in. We recently teamed up with Riverina Oils – one of the exclusive brands we represent - to donate nine pallets of fine-quality Australian canola oil to Foodbank Victoria.

In other words, that’s 5100 bottles, or five metric tonnes!

Foodbank provides access to food relief for people in distress from financial hardship and disasters such as bushfires, floods and drought.

Foodbank Victoria Operations Manager Edi Banovac said the canola oil would be available to over 500 charity partners across Victoria to self-select from the Foodbank Portal.

“Cooking oils are such a vital part of healthy eating, but not accessible to people who are struggling to afford even basic pantry staples,” Edi said.

“This donation will ensure more families and individuals across the state don’t miss out on the nutrition they need. 

“Secondly, for those hardworking charities that provide cooked meals, this will reduce their need to spend on cooking pantry consumables.”

“When organisations like Sherman Foods and Riverina Oil engage as donors it allows us to reorganise our food spend and channel funds set aside for pantry staples into other products like fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh milk, and protein to provide a complete healthy food basket to our communities in need.”
